Project Overview
In April 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake-ravaged area of Nepal resulted in thousands of deaths and
injuries and flattened entire villages. USAID was called upon help the country recover. In close
coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and Nepal’s National
Reconstruction Authority, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health, USAID is helping to
identify, prioritize, design, and procure support for several task orders in Nepal with Nepal Community
Reconstruction Program (NCRP). NRSE project support USAID in its effort to assist the Government of
Nepal(GON) to “Build Back Safer” health and educational facilities in Nepal after the devastating earthquake
of April 2015. Following a thorough study of the Nepal National Building Code standards, and completing
facility needs assessments, site investigations, and pre-design planning, CDM Smith’s designs incorporate
seismic requirements, disaster resiliency, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Supporting the Government
of Nepal and earthquake-affected communities, the project team is planning, managing, and monitoring
the reconstruction of critical public facilities, including schools and health facilities, and aims to strengthen
private sector participation in reconstruction. Three schools have been selected for reconstruction under
Task order No. 1 in Kathmandu Valley; Kanya Mandir Secondary School, Adarsha Secondary School and
Shree Bhagawati Secondary School.

In Above mentioned Task order Topland Engineering and Construction Pvt. Ltd. is an approved Sub-
contractor from USAID for the reconstruction of Kanya Mandir School School and Adaesha Secondary School.
Project Addresses
Kanya Secondary School is located at the heart of Kathmandu in a busy commercial area of
Thamel. An old and historic block of Asan, Thahity, Chhetrapati, Nardevi, and Bhedasing are at its
periphery. The site houses an important and historic pond, ikha-pokhari which is 163 ft wide and
310 ft long. The site is a flat area and was used as a shelter during the earthquake of April 2015.
